Thomas is already in Malaga

The new Unicaja pivot landed this afternoon on the Costa del Sol and could debut this next Saturday against Movistar Estudiantes at the Martín Carpena (18:00).

Malcom Thomas has landed this afternoon in Malaga and this afternoon he plans to join the training sessions with Unicaja. The pivot (32 years and 2.06 meters) will be under the orders of Fotis Katsikaris as long as he tests negative in the PCR test (he already passed one before traveling from the United States) and passes the medical examination without problems.

The arrival of Thomas covers the demand that the Greek coach had been making since he assumed command of the club weeks ago. The inside game has been the great slab of Unicaja this season and propping up the paint was a priority for Katsikaris with a view to fighting to qualify the team for the playoff dispute for the title.

In principle, he could debut this weekend at Martín Carpena against Movistar Estudiantes (Saturday 27, 18:00). Thomas will make his debut in this way in ACB basketball, although he has a long history behind him and in recent seasons he has played for several European teams such as Khimki, Fenerbahçe and Bayern Munich.

The incorporation of Thomas may not be the last move in Los Guindos as the exit of Volodymyr Gerun is pending. The Ukrainian, who has a proposal from the ACB, is outside the group dynamics and trains with the technicians alone.
