The Tour of the Community of Madrid, canceled due to the pandemic

The Madrid Cycling Federation announced on Tuesday the suspension of the race, which was scheduled to take place from May 6 to 9.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to leave more cycling events that cannot be held or have their dates changed this season 2021.

The last test that has been added to this list is the International Cycling Tour of the Community of Madrid, scheduled for May 6 to 9, and that will not finally be held in 2021.

The Madrid Cycling Federation (FMC) stated in a statement that "the serious health situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with a high incidence in our community, makes it impossible to carry it out with sufficient safety guarantees for runners, staff of the teams and the organization ".

Despite the fact that the race cannot be held, the Madrid Cycling Federation assures that "it works in an alternative way to develop new and exciting projects with grassroots cycling for 2021 and with the hope of being able to definitively resume the Vuelta in 2022" .
