The National Team flies to Gliwice today

The team will play the last two qualifying matches for the Eurobasket on Friday and Sunday, for which they have already secured a place.

The Spanish expedition, with the 13 players summoned by Sergio Scariolo for the occasion, leaves this Monday morning to the city of Gliwice (Poland). Like the two previous days, which the National Team played in Valencia, these last two will be held in a 'bubble' format, taking into account all the health protocols set by the FIBA. The two days will put an end to the qualifying phase for Eurobasket 2022, for which Spain has already ensured its presence in the previous 'window'.

In this way, the National Team will travel directly to Polish soil, without carrying out a previous concentration in our country. Upon arrival at the 'bubble' hotel, all the members of the team, like the other three teams, will undergo the perceptive PCR test before training can begin. The first training session in Gliwice is scheduled for Tuesday morning, and the coach's plan is to do a double session daily in the first three days.

The first game will be played by Spain on Friday against Poland (20:30) and the second, and last of this phase, on Sunday against Israel (17:30), and Spain plans to return home the same Sunday night, just after the game.

13 out of 24 places to be decided

Spain secured its presence at Eurobasket 2022 last November, after its victory over Romania. Ten other teams have already qualified for the championship: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Israel, Slovenia, Ukraine and hosts Georgia, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy. There are therefore 13 places to be decided to complete the list of 24 countries participating in the championship, which will be held from September 1 to 18 next year in Prague, Tblisi, Cologne, Milan (group stage) and Berlin (final stage) .
