Logroño and Gijón were always twinned cities. Those were other, better times, with Club Deportivo Logroñés (now defunct) and Sporting in the First Division. The Asturians today visit another tenant, the Unión Deportiva Logroñés, in the new Las Gaunas stadium. A setting especially loved by its fans, who will be missed. The pandemic conditions everything and has prevented the displacement of a large Mareona. Without supporters, David Gallego's footballers will seek their first victory in someone else's field after three months. The Gijon team has been stuck away from home and is not quite comfortable as a visitor, and even so it occupies the sixth place, which gives access to the promotion playoff.

Gallego has for this clash the casualties of Bogdan and Aitor, injured and sanctioned, respectively, but the only signing of the winter market appears in his call. The arrival of former Spanish player Víctor Campuzano was expected to give the rojiblancos a bigger punch in attack, a plot in which Uros Djurdjevic is the only player this season with a true nose for goal. With just a couple of training sessions, it does not seem that Campuzano will start as a starter, although he will have minutes. For its part, Logroñés will have six absences: the captain, Iñaki, and Petcoff, physically touched, and Vitoria, Zelu, Siddiki and Álex Pérez, affected by the coronavirus. One of the two winter reinforcements, Nano Mesa (on loan from Cádiz until June), made his debut against Sabadell and almost got all three points with a shot on the post. Dani Pacheco, the other addition (free agent), entered Sergio Rodríguez's list. The sports management considers them decisive to preserve the category in the second round ... and, above all, to try to improve the offensive numbers. The red and white have not scored in seven of the last eight games. After a defeat and two draws, Logroñés should fortify their field. So far, it is seven points above the decline.
