Rahm is 7th in Reed's win

The Spaniard made the pair on the last round and the American won emphatically by taking five strokes ahead of his pursuers.

Jon Rahm started as the main favorite, thanks to his status as number 2 in the world, to victory at the Torrey Pines South municipal field in La Jolla (California). The Farmers Insurance Open was marked by the 26-year-old Barrika player, who already won it in 2017, as the first tournament he could win in 2021, but the Spaniard's play has been too irregular throughout the four rounds, in special in the last two. Card of -3 the first day and -5 the second made him participate without discussion in the fight although on the third day the birdies and bogeys were paired to sign the pair of the day and go out to the final round two strokes behind leaders with options fully open

The bogey on hole 1 left a bad feeling, but three almost consecutive birdies on 3, 4 and 6 seemed to launch the Basque on the final hunt for the North American Patrick Reed. The spark on the green did not appear for Rahm who wasted a good opportunity to continue cutting and then another bogey arrived at 11 that put everything too uphill. A third in 15 definitely buried the options for a Rahm who finished 7th, with -8 and par in the last round, in Reed's resounding final triumph with 274 strokes (-14), five less than his immediate pursuers.
