Official: Upamecano signs with Bayern until 2026

Coming from Leipzig, he signs a five-year contract until 2026. Bayern thus covers the void that Alaba will leave after his more than certain departure at the end of the season.

It's official now. As the sports director Hasan Salihamidzic advanced in an interview with the daily Bild, Bayern Munich have signed Dayot Upamecano. This was made official by the sextet champion through a statement on his website. Upamecano, from RB Leipzig, will join the ranks of the Bavarian team in the summer and signs a five-year contract until 2026.

“We are happy that we were able to beat Dayot Upamecano for FC Bayern München. Dayot will be a very important element for our team in the coming years, we are convinced of it ", were the words of Salihamidzic, who knew how to convince the French central defender throughout negotiations in which he prevailed over the interest of clubs of the stature like Chelsea or Liverpool.

In this way, Bayern already has covered the void that David Alaba will leave after his more than safe departure at the end of the season. The Austrian defender, who will not renew with the Munich team due to his high salary claims, is on the list of the greats in Europe, including Real Madrid. Everything will depend on which entity is willing to assume the excessive salary that it asks for. According to ESPN and The Telegraph, the two-time Champions League champion wants 22 kilos a year and a five-year contract. Bayern already have a replacement.
