Neves complicates Newcastle

A goal from the Portuguese midfielder prevented Wolverhampton's defeat against Newcastle. Lascelles overtook the magpies.

A goal by Rubén Neves prevented Wolverhampton's defeat against Newcastle (1-1), which led to a victory that would have relieved them of the threat of relegation from the Premier.

The scoreboard relieves the 'wolves' anchored in no man's land from the classification. Far from the lower part but also from the European positions to which he aspired at the beginning of the course.

Steve Bruce's side, weighing down two straight losses, took the lead early in the second half. It was in the 52nd minute that Jamaal Lascelles received a cross from Ryan Fraser and beat Rui Patricio.

Wolverhampton reacted and surrounded the area of the Slovak Martin Dubravka but did not score until the final quarter of an hour thanks to the Portuguese Rubén Neves who brought a pass from his compatriot Pedro Neto to the net.

The draw leaves the 'magpies' four points behind Fulham, the third to last and that marks the descent, who visit Crystal Palace on Sunday.
