Hazard's Calvary

This is the sixth injury this season, the ninth since joining Real Madrid. It has almost impossible to be in the crossroads of the Champions League against Atalanta.

Hazard's-Calvary

Eden Hazard is injured again. A new relapse that leaves him in the crosshairs of Real Madrid. Muscle problems have become too common and, in the latter case, at a decisive moment of the season. Twenty days before the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Atalanta, the Belgian has suffered a muscle tear that will make him miss two to four weeks, making it almost impossible to be prepared to play against the Italians.

This is the sixth injury this season, the ninth since joining Real Madrid last season. In total he has lost 42 games, 13 this year. As a white player, he has only been able to play 31% of the minutes in the season and a half (2176 'out of 7110' possible) In this same league he has lost, among others, the Clásico at the Camp Nou or the derby against Atlético de Madrid.

Hazard goes backwards His first appearance on the list after recovering from his last injury was on December 23 against Granada. That day he did not play a minute, something logical with the zero risk policy that Zidane usually adopts. From there, the plan was followed for him to pick up the pace: 13 minutes against Elche (December 30), 16 'against Celta (January 2) and first start (75') against Osasuna (January 9).

Little by little, the process of joining the team was finished in Pamplona. From there, Hazard was ready to play the matches fully. Even more so with five days of rest until the next match, against Athletic in the Spanish Super Cup. That day, Eden's minutes decreased: 67 '. He was replaced by technical decision (not a precaution) when Madrid lost 1-2.

Nine days later he started again against Alavés ... and again substituted. His participation, down: 63 '. This time, however, it was as a precaution. The match was sentenced (1-3) and the Belgian had left a good performance, with a goal included. Between the duels against Athletic and Alavés there was the elimination in the Cup against Alcoyano, where he was a substitute and played only 22 minutes. That break was planned and, in fact, the idea is that he would not play minutes in Alcoy (he had to leave because of Odriozola's inconvenience) .

Madrid had seven days off after their game in Mendizorroza and on Saturday, against Levante, Hazard repeated his title ... and left early. 60 minutes lasted this time, with his team tying (1-1). Since he started against Osasuna, his participation has gone from more to less. The Belgian still doesn't know what it's like to play a full game this year.

The credit runs out

The most expensive signing in the club's history (115 million euros) still does not adapt. The physical problems and the low performance shown since his arrival cast doubt on his status in the team. Although he was treated with care in the first season, aware that he had to be an important player in the medium-long term and that his serious ankle injury from Meunier's kick could condition him, his credit is beginning to run out.

The extra ball that remained was the Champions League. Being decisive in the round of 16 matches could change his course. However, this injury leaves him with minimal options to be against Atalanta, so if he wants to redeem himself, he will have to wait for the team to qualify and do so in the quarterfinals.
