Dodig-Polasek couple win their first Grand Slam title

Croatian Ivan Dodig and Slovakian Filip Polasek defeated 2020 champions of the United States, Rajeev Ram and Britain's Joe Salisbury, in the final.

Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek (ninth favorites) won their first Grand Slam title as a team this Sunday at the Australian Open, beating the champions of the tournament in 2020 in the final 6-3 and 6-4 in 1h: 28 , Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury (fifth). It was the third confrontation between both pairs, with which the tie of their balance was undone.

It is the second great trophy won by the Croatian Dodig (36 years old), who won Roland Garros 2015 (against the Bryan brothers) together with the Brazilian Marcelo Melo and the first from the Slovak Polasek (35), the second tennis player from this country to win a best in any category after Daniela Hantuchova, who won four cups in mixed doubles.

American Ram (36) was unable to round out the weekend with another success after winning the mixed final with Czech Barbora Krejcikova. Dodig and Polasek move up to ninth and tenth, respectively, in the doubles ranking.
