Diego Ulissi can now return to training after overcoming his heart problems

The UAE Emirates team confirmed that the latest tests carried out on the rider have not shown risk arrhythmias, so he will be able to return to training.

Diego Ulissi received great news this Wednesday after the ordeal he has gone through in the last two months after detecting myocarditis last December.

After being discharged for his heart problems on January 21, Ulissi has now received permission to return to training with intensity, as confirmed by the UAE Emirates team in a statement.

In the letter, the squad has shared the results of the heart biopsy performed on Uliss on January 21 at the Riunit hospital in Ancona. "These results excluded congenital cardiomyopathies and confirmed an older myocarditis, probably of viral origin and whose etiological agent has not been identified."

However, the biopsy "confirmed the absence of risk arrhythmias for the athlete during the electrophysiological study, which will allow the progressive resumption of training". To avoid possible risks, the team confirmed that Ulissi "will follow a period of periodic monitoring before confirming his definitive return to racing." Ulissi is very close to overcoming his most difficult stage in recent months.
