De Vries wins first ePrix of the season with Mercedes

Triumph of the Dutchman Mercedes in the date night of Saudi Arabia. Today, second race on the Diriyah street circuit.

The Dutch Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team) achieved victory this Friday in the opening round of the Formula E World Championship, held on the Saudi street circuit of Diriyah, and did so after dominating the two free sessions, qualifying and the Superpole.

De Vries, 26, facing his second experience in the electric motor car championship, won the first Diriyah e-Prix of the season with 4.119 seconds of margin over the second, the Swiss Edoardo Mortara (Rokit Venturi Racing) , and 4,619 over the third, New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar Racing) .

The current champion, the Portuguese Antonio Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah), qualified eleventh, after starting eighteenth, 16.225 seconds behind the winner in the first night race of the contest. This Saturday the second round of the championship takes place, again in Diriyah.
