Viviani undergoes tests for heart problems

Elia Viviani, a 31-year-old Italian sprinter, noticed some problems while exercising with her Cofidis teammates in Benidorm.

Elia Viviani, runner of the Cofidis team and Olympic omnium champion, underwent tests this Wednesday at the Riuniti hospital in Ancona (northern Italy) after feeling heart abnormalities during training in Spain.

Viviani, 31, noticed some problems while exercising with his colleagues from Cofidis in Benidorm analyzing the cardiac data of the device placed on his bicycle and contacted Dr. Roberto Corsetti, one of the best known experts in sports cardiology in Italy, according to local media.

Viviani has known Corsetti for years as this was the doctor of the Liquigas team, in which the Italian runner was active between 2010 and 2012. The cardiologist also worked in his career in the UAE Emirates team.

At the Ancona hospital, Viviani met her compatriot Diego Ulissi (UAE Emirates), who is recovering from a myocarditis that was diagnosed during the medical examination he underwent in December with his team.
