The current cyclocross world champion, the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel, has chosen Castellón to prepare his participation in the World Championship that takes place on January 30 and 31. Van der Poel and his team, Alpecin Fénix, are in Castellón for pre-season concentration to prepare for the competition in 2021 with different training sessions taking advantage of the orography.

El Alpecin is one of the cycling teams that Castellón chooses each winter to carry out their training sessions, taking advantage of the weather conditions in the Region of Valencia, although on this occasion they have encountered some days of cold, rain and even snow. Also the sun and the mild temperatures that predominate in the area have been used these days by the Belgian team that this Thursday will put an end to their concentration after having trained both on the flat in coastal areas and in the interior of Castellón and its mountains. Through their social networks, Alpecin has recorded their training sessions with which Van der Poel hopes to start the season by proclaiming himself world champion of cyclo-cross.
