The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Formula 1 have signed the renewal of the contract that confirms the celebration of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Barcelona track in 2021, between May 7 and 9 of this year.

"The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has ensured its continuity in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship this season and will celebrate the traditional appointment with the premier class on 7, 8 and 9 May", confirmed the Circuit.

This will be the 65th edition of the Spanish Grand Prix, the 31st to be held consecutively at the Circuit, an installation that during the 2021 season will also commemorate the 30th anniversary of its inauguration.

"The Catalan track will continue to work with Formula 1 on a new long-term contract during the next season that will ensure the continuity of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya beyond 2021," said the entity.

The Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya and president of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Ramon Tremosa, assured that the F1 Grand Prix in Catalonia is a great world event that generates a "multiplier effect" in the economy.

"We will continue working from the Government to make the Montmeló track a permanent venue for the competition, because Formula 1 is not an expense, but an investment," he said. "Catalonia is a motor country, with great fans, international champions and extraordinary infrastructures," he said.
