The Movistar E-Team is looking for its first ten riders

The Movistar Team Challenge kicks off on February 3. It will be his first esports squad in this 2021 season.

The Movistar Team presents today in detail a virtual cycling competition, the Movistar Team Challenge, with which it will choose in the coming weeks five men and five women who will be part, in this same 2021, of the new Movistar E-Team. The event will take place exclusively on the Zwift platform, and will be supported at an audiovisual level by GCN.

For five weeks, starting on Wednesday, February 3, the Movistar Team Challenge will hold four qualifying rounds. The process will begin that day with the Community Qualifier Races, held in two time zones, and will continue in the following weeks in events by invitation, in which 300 cyclists already pre-selected by Movistar Team and Zwift, competitors mostly in the Zwift Racing League , will join the qualifiers in the previous round to fight for the ten places of the new team.

In addition to those already invited, any cyclist registered with Zwift will be able to find their place in the new Movistar E-Team. The qualifying races next Wednesday will have unlimited registration, both for men and women, and will be held in two schedules, adapted to both the Spanish and European and international public. The three fastest in both categories in each of these schedules will have the right to participate in the first round of the Movistar Team Challenge, on Wednesday, February 10, having to meet, among other conditions, that of being at least 18 years old on the 1st. As of February 10, both the qualifiers in the preview and the guests will face each other directly looking for the places of the new Movistar E-Team. In the first round, two races held 48 hours apart (Wednesday 10th and Friday 12th) will award finishing points that will be decided by the 100 riders (50 women and 50 men) who will go to the second round. In this (Wednesday 17 and Friday 19), with the same system, only the best 40 (20 boys and 20 girls) will have access to the Movistar Team Challenge Finals.

In the final round, scheduled for the beginning of March, those chosen will face a series of challenges under the watchful eye and participation of GCN and members of the Movistar Team. In these challenges, not only will physical performance be examined, but through live interviews with the GCN presenters and other tests, the personality of the participants will be better understood. The performance and brand staff of Movistar Team will choose, through these challenges, the final team of 10 runners (5 men and 5 women) that will make up the Movistar E-Team, examining their physical performance with their coaches and ZADA and assessing also its association of values to the image of the team. Exceptionally, Movistar Team reserves the right to choose, at its sole discretion, 2 of the 10 places according to its own criteria.

The Movistar E-Team squad that will come out of the Challenge will immediately focus on the competition, as its riders will participate in the following weeks in the Premier Division of the Zwift Racing League, both in the men's and women's categories, in seeks to become one of the best esports cycling teams in the world.
