Sergio Ramos gets cold

With January about to pass, he remains without renewing while Madrid dedicates efforts to the signing of Alaba and with PSG hovering around the Sevillian.

Sergio-Ramos-gets-cold

January 2021 is about to pass by and Sergio Ramos still does not renew with Real Madrid. The Sevillian defender has permission to speak with other teams since last January 1, as FIFA establishes that players who terminate their contracts can initiate contacts to resolve their future in advance with a margin of six months before the expiration of the current contract. That of Ramos with Madrid ends on June 30, 2021 and for the moment there is no white smoke, despite the fact that the greats of Europe can already make the white captain dizzy with offers and in fact some of them already seem to be dedicating efforts to it.

Ramos suffers discomfort in his left knee, a problem that has been repeated this year and that he already noticed during the warm-up prior to the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic. He ended up playing, but then he missed the duels against Alcoyano in the Cup and Alavés in the League. On Tuesday he exercised alone in Valdebebas, but he already touches the ball and his reincorporation to the group and later to the starting eleven will not be long in coming. The elimination of the cup in Alcoy once again showed that their absences considerably lower the white defensive level.

Despite this, there is no agreement for its renewal with Madrid at the moment. At first, the main difference between the parties was in the years, with Madrid offering only one due to its policy of renewing those over 30 season by season (Ramos is 34, it will be 35 in March) and the captain demanding two. Finally, Madrid seems to have been open to giving him those two years, so salary is the next stumbling block.

Real Madrid recently closed the renewal, already agreed but not signed or made official, of Luka Modric. This renewal includes a 10% salary cut, which the club is asking all players to face the economic problems derived from the coronavirus. Unlike in confinement, when the dressing room agreed to a 10% drop in salaries globally, in this case Madrid is negotiating this reduction player by player. That same 10% reduction is what Madrid wants Ramos to accept, lowering his salary from 12 million net to 10.8.

Ramos-Madrid: faith in the agreement

There is no agreement yet, but there is optimism that it will end up arriving before the predisposition of both parties. Ramos has always expressed his desire to end his career at Madrid; at least in the elite, beyond Europe he knows that Beckham awaits him with Inter Miami. And Madrid values that, despite his age, he is a totally current player and the cost of a footballer of that stature in the market is something that the club could not afford right now, even more so if it wants to reserve all its financial efforts for the signing by Mbappé. In addition, the name of Alaba gains strength as the weeks go by, as the Austrian would arrive for free and cover several positions, one of them that of the left central, the one that Ramos usually occupies.

The problem of the delay is that several teams from the Old Continent fly around the Sevillian, attentive to how the situation is resolved and eager for a break that allows Ramos to arrive at their squads without transfer. The one that seems the most determined is PSG, and according to Mr. Chip reported in Onda Cero, the French club has sent an offer of 15 million net per season and a three-year contract to the environment of Camas.
