Red Bull breaks up with KTM Tech3

The energy drink will stop supporting the French line-up of Herve Poncharal, which in 2021 will be renamed Factory Racing.

It was an open secret and this Tuesday it was made official. With a little less than two months remaining until the start of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship preseason in Losail (March 10-12), once the Sepang test was suspended due to the health crisis that is causing the coronavirus pandemic in the Southeast Asian country, Red Bull has confirmed that this season it will stop supporting KTM Tech financially.

A hard blow for the coffers of Hervé Poncharal's team, estimated at around three million euros, which will force the French team to reside against the clock the monkeys of Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona, the decoration of the garage that they look in circuits or even change their name. From now on, the Bormes-les-Mimosas team will be called Factory Racing.

It should be remembered that Poncharal has held several meetings with Suzuki in the past to try to sign an association with the Hamamatsu brand to become its satellite team from 2022, once the request was made to Dorna to want to continue being part of the grid of the highest category of motorcycling until 2026.
