Positive for COVID in the Estu before the duel against Barça

The collegiate team reports that one of their players is isolated and asymptomatic. Madrid have not played yet in 2021.

The Movistar Estudiantes reported this Friday, through a medical report, that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 in the routine tests carried out on the Madrid team.

"The affected person is asymptomatic and in good health. Once the positive has been detected, all the measures dictated by both the health protocol established by the health authorities and the internal club itself have been followed," the team reported. The rest of the squad did not complete the training session scheduled for this Friday and are waiting to undergo a PCR test this Saturday.

No games in this 2021

It is the second case detected in the college team since the beginning of this season. The first was Édgar Vicedo at the beginning of November and it was, as in this case, in the run-up to the game against Barça. Both teams must meet this Sunday at the Palau Blaugrana (18:00, #Vamos). At the moment, and waiting for new tests to the squad, the duel continues.

If there is a postponement, the Estu, which has not yet played in 2021, would add its third consecutive game of Liga Endesa postponed. First it was that of Monbus Obradoiro due to the cases of coronavirus in the Galician club and later, that of Casademont Zaragoza due to the storm Filomena, which prevented the Aragonese from moving to the capital of Spain. Their last league match was against Iberostar Tenerife, with a Canarian victory.
