Pogacar, in 2021: defense of the Tour ... and will be in La Vuelta

The UAE revealed its leaders' plans for this season. Formolo will be the reference in the Giro and in Slovenian, in France (with Hirschi) and in Spain (with De la Cruz).

Tadej Pogacar will defend his title in the Tour de France, a race in which he was brilliantly crowned in 2020, and will attend La Vuelta, the test that confirmed him as the star of the peloton in 2019 after achieving three stage victories and third place in the general. Those are the plans of the UAE leader in this 2021, as confirmed by the Emirates team this Monday. The 22-year-old Slovenian will therefore do two Grand Tours for the first time in his career in what is his third season on the World Tour.

The Slovenian will count on the Tour with the support of the star signing of the formation, the Swiss Marc Hirschi. It was also revealed that Norwegian Alexander Kristoff will be present at the French round. While in La Vuelta, the Spanish David De la Cruz, seventh in last year's edition, will be the second asset of the structure together with the Slovenian. Matteo Trentin will also be present in the Spanish round. Facing the Giro d'Italia, Davide Formolo, Brandon McNulty and sprinter Fernando Gaviria will be the main figures of the team.
