Malucelli wins the first stage of the Vuelta al Táchira

The Italian cyclist won the sprint on arrival at El Vigía ahead of Johan Colo and Nicolás Dalla Valle and is the first leader of the Venezuelan event.

The Italian Matteo Malucelli (Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec) won this Sunday the first stage of the Vuelta al Tachira, in Venezuela, after crossing the finish line ahead of Colombian Johan Colon (Equipe Continental Orgullo Paisa) and his compatriot Nicolás Dalla Valle (Bardiani- CSF-Faizanè) .

Malucelli, 27, used a time of 2:51:25 to complete the 131.9-kilometer stretch between the towns of Lobatera and El Vigía.

Colon and Dalla Valle did the same time, but overall they appear four and six seconds behind the first leader of the LVI edition of the Giro Rey de Venezuela.

Italian Malucelli was champion of the first and third laps of the Vuelta al Táchira in 2017.

Local Isaac Yaguaro (Vit Osorio Gw) was in fourth place with the same time as Dalla Valle and was the best-placed Venezuelan in the first stage.

The second stage of the Vuelta al Táchira will take place this Monday between Liceo Libertador and the Campo Elías Viaduct, with a route of 113 kilometers, with four sprints, two redeemable at kilometers 22 and 67.
