Joel Embiid grows in the duel of quarantined teams

Only eight players were on each side. Heat and Sixers are two of the teams with the most players in quarantine. 45 + 16 + 5 + 4 from Embiid.

Two of the teams with fewer players available due to the action protocol against the coronavirus faced each other and one of them prevailed in an appointment that was resolved in overtime. The Sixers beat the Heat by 137-134 in an offensive display and with many logical gaps in the defenses of both teams. Only 16 men, eight on each side, contested the match.

The Heat were down ten in the fourth quarter and rallied until they forced overtime. In fact, they would have won if not for a shot from Embiid with four seconds to go. In extra time the free throws were about to throw it all away for the locals, who were already ahead. A triple by Andre Iguodala that did not enter the basket was what ended the hopes of the Florida team.

Joel Embiid was the best of the match. 45 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists for the Cameroonian. Little more to say. At his side was a grown Danny Green who hit 9 of 21 on triples to finish with 29 points. In the Sixers were Maxey and Scott; in the Heat, Achiuwa and Vincent. The most prominent of the visitors was Tyler Herro, who went up to 34 points.

These two teams will meet again in the next match. The 76ers thus cut a three-game losing streak and become 8-4, division leaders and having left only one of their home commitments. The Heat, meanwhile, are left with a negative balance of 4-5 in the table.
