Cristian Cedrés has surgery tomorrow

The winger tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in Vallecas. The remainder of the season is lost, and the club 'keeps' its record.

The nightmare of Cristian Cedrés will live a new chapter tomorrow. Perhaps the most important. It so happens that, this Monday morning, the Gran Canaria winger will be operated on for a complete tear of the cruciate ligament in his right knee.

In his best moment of the season, when he finally began to have the prominence expected after months of distress (the club gave him his file just a few minutes before the summer market closed), Cedrés started as a starter in the last game of 2020, against Rayo Vallecano. Barely two minutes into the game in Vallecas when the natural footballer from Ingenio and with a fertile past in the Real Madrid quarry, he fell down alone after a bad gesture. His instantaneous gestures and cries of pain foreshadowed the worst.

And the worst happened. On December 22, two days after the game, Las Palmas confirmed, through the club's medical services, a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee, also estimating a period of absence that ranges between 6 and 7 months .

Before the surgery, which will take place at the Perpetuo Socorro clinic, in the capital of Gran Canaria, Cedrés has been going to the Ciudad Deportiva de Las Palmas on time to work on the damaged area, which will be operated on tomorrow. After the compulsory rest there will come a tough recovery that aims to be one further for the months of July and August, when the next preseason begins. At the moment, he has this course and three more on his contract.

For its part, UD itself has already confirmed that it will 'remove' its file, which allows to lighten the squad in order to undertake possible incorporations. Goalkeeper Raúl Fernández is currently in the same situation, also due to his serious injury.
