Castellón dismisses Óscar Cano

The Granada coach, who returned the Orelut team to professional football ten years later, ends his journey on the Castellón bench.

The Óscar Cano era comes to an end in Castellón. The Granada coach, who has already overcome the first siren calls after the first crisis of the season, and who returned the Orelut team to the professional stage after ten years in the catacombs of football, ends his time on the Castellón bench alongside the members of its coaching staff, Elías Martí and Matías Ramírez. Juan Carlos Garrido, former Villarreal, is the main candidate to replace him.

The albinegro team has been marked by irregularity in their return to Second. The bad image against Espanyol and the situation of the team, penultimate in the table, have precipitated a decision that had already been behind the scenes for some time.

Garrido, the main candidate for the bench, has not trained in Spain since 2014. His last adventure was last year at Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco, a team with which he reached an agreement in September to finalize his contract by mutual agreement.

The next match of Castellón will be on January 24, against Sporting de Gijón, so the new coach will have that margin to work on his ideas after being eliminated from the Copa del Rey last week against Tenerife.
