Benfica is left without defenses: Otamendi and Tavares, positive

The left-back and the Argentine center-back join the list of five positives that the club announced on Tuesday. The outbreak at the club has already affected 19 people.

Benfica will play today the second semifinal of the League Cup against Braga and will do so without its starting defensive line, as the club has announced that the five positives from yesterday are joined by the Argentine central Otamendi and the Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares.

In this way, the Covid-19 outbreak detected in the Benfica club has affected 19 people, including seven first-team players and the club's president himself, Luís Filipe Vieira.

On Tuesday, Benfica announced the positives of Spanish full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, Brazilian right-back Gilberto, Belgian center-back Vertonghen, young Portuguese midfielder Diogo Gonçalves and German international striker Luca Waldschmidt.

The city of Leiria hosts tonight the second semifinal of the Portuguese League Cup between Benfica and Braga, as happened yesterday between Sporting and Porto, where the Verdiblancos beat "the dragons" and thus achieved the place for the final on Saturday.
