Alarm-in-F1

Formula 1 understands the needs of the organizers and accepts the request to change the dates of the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix… for now. The significance of the matter goes beyond these two modifications, the most worrying thing is that it confirms what we all fear: the coronavirus will continue to alter our lives and any project that arises, also in sport, must maintain a certain provisional nature . Apart from the fact that the events can be held with fans in the stands, it is the health authorities of each country that impose restrictions that make it impossible to hold them, either in the form of access to the country or severe quarantines that make their normal development unfeasible.

Like many other sports, F1 has already demonstrated with the arrival of COVID-19 its ability to carry out a championship in truly complex and unprecedented conditions. Through effort, imagination and weakening his business, a very dignified season was completed. The intention for the new year is even more ambitious and they insist on the goal of no less than 23 grands prix and, as far as possible, with an audience on the circuits. The start of 2021 is far from inviting optimism, the health and economic recovery is slower than predicted and its effects are felt in almost all areas. You have to be prepared for at least a difficult first semester and I fear that these first changes in Melbourne and Shanghai may not be the last. Hopefully soon the blessing of vaccines will allow us to get out of this chaos ...
