The Cristiano-Messi duel, at risk

The quarantine in Italy has dropped from 14 to 10 days: in the best of cases, the Portuguese would only miss the games with Crotone and Dinamo Kiev. The appointment between Juve and Barça will be played on October 28.

The contagion of Cristiano Ronaldo is the umpteenth bad news for a Serie A that has lived in the last two weeks again the fear of being paralyzed by COVID-19. After the Juventus-Naples case, which has not yet been resolved, Calcio's doctors met to discuss modifications to a protocol that no longer works, while several teams continue to accumulate positives. The most serious situations are being experienced by Genoa (which still has 14) and Inter (6) and for Vecchia Signora giving up Portuguese is a hard blow, although the new regulations approved this week by the Government's Scientific Technical Committee could help her.

The quarantine for COVID-19 positives, in fact, dropped from 14 to 10 days and it will only take three days without symptoms and a negative test instead of two to finish it. In the best of cases, then, Ronaldo would only miss the match against Crotone next Saturday and the Champions League debut against Dinamo Kiev (20 October). The striker still has room to be available against Verona (October 25) and, above all, Barcelona, on the 28th. The reunion between CR7 and Messi on the Allianz Stadium turf is still possible but today he is in serious danger. UEFA protocol establishes that a player must give a negative result in the analysis, at least seven days before the match in question.
