The Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Ramon Tremosa, has been appointed this Friday as the new president of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after the approval of the board of directors of the circuit, which has ratified him this afternoon under the proposal of the Generalitat. Tremisa was proposed two weeks ago and this Friday the decision was confirmed during the council's celebration.

Tremosa takes over from Maria Teixidor, who left office at the end of last September for personal reasons. "This management formula of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya had already been used until 2011, when at that time the vice president of the Generalitat Josep-Lluís Carod-Rovira transferred the position to Vicenç Aguilera," the Circuit reports in a statement.

Ramon Tremosa, born in Sant Boi de Llobregat in 1965, has a degree from the University of Barcelona in Economic Sciences, is a tenured professor at the University of Barcelona since 2001 and has published 12 books on the European Union, monetary policy, regional economy and federalism prosecutor, as well as numerous academic articles. He was a deputy in the European Parliament between 2009 and 2019, being a member of the Commissions on Economy and Finance, International Trade and Transport and Tourism and of the parliamentary delegations of the USA and Israel.

From 2017 to 2019 he was Coordinator in the Economics Commission of the Liberal Group. Since September 2020, he has been the Regional Minister of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat. In addition, the Circuit has explained in said statement that "within the framework of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Members, which was also held this afternoon, the accounts corresponding to the year 2019 have been unanimously approved" .
