Pellegrini trembles without Emerson

Defeats by thrashing against Getafe and Real Sociedad showed the weakness of Betis's right lane without the Brazilian. He aims to return to the Wanda this Saturday.

Betis focuses its sights on the appointment of the Wanda Metropolitano next Saturday and does so by looking askance at the recovery of Emerson, who missed the appointment against the Royal Society due to physical discomfort. Manuel Pellegrini hopes to recover the Brazilian, who is vital in his right lane since his arrival and who provides more reliability to the position. The numbers also confirm their weight: their two absences occurred against Getafe and Real Sociedad and the Verdiblanco team conceded two hard thrashes 3-0 and 0-3. All a reflection of the alarm present in that right-handed band without the Brazilian footballer.

Pellegrini threw Aitor Ruibal against Real and the formula found no response on the pitch. The youth squad, used to playing in a more offensive position, suffered from the start between spaces, with Oyarzabal constantly on the move by his side. The Chilean coach had covered that need against Getafe with the presence of Bartra a few weeks ago, but that solution was not effective either and the center-back suffered more than expected in that place. Now the sights on the Wanda are set with a new focus on that lane and in the hope that Emerson can be on the scene.

The setbacks were multiple for Pellegrini on that defensive right wing. Martín Montoya, Emerson's substitute in the Betic team, is away from training at the moment due to a positive for Coronavirus suffered by someone close to him. This forces him to stay on the sidelines although it seems that his return to training is about to take place. Pelelgrini expects more tricks and above all he already shuffles other cards to face this problem in the event that the absences of his two main right lanes persist.
