Carvalho prevails in Setúbal and Antunes retains the leadership

The Portuguese from Efapel was the strongest in the seventh set, before the final time trial on Monday. His compatriot remains in front and the Spanish Veloso, third.


The Portuguese António Carvalho (Efapel), today took the seventh stage of the Volta to Portugal, while the yellow jersey is still in the hands of also Portuguese Amaro Antunes (W52-FC Porto) .

Carvalho covered the 161 kilometers between Loures and Setúbal with a time of 3:40:45 and crossed the finish line first, just ahead of his compatriots Luís Fernandes (Rádio Popular-Boavista) and Luís Gomes (Kelly-Simoldes- UDO). A Spaniard entered the top 10: Alejandro Marque (Tavira), who was sixth.

The top of the general classification remains as it was at the start of the stage: Antunes leads, followed by Frederico Figueiredo (Tavira), 13 seconds away, and Spanish Gustavo Veloso (W52-FC Porto), one minute and 13 seconds away. This Monday the last stage will be run, a 17.7-kilometer time trial in Lisbon.
