Bilbao: "I saw a good moment to attack and I tried it"

The Spanish tried to surprise the rest of the favorites in the final leg of the stage, but was neutralized. He took advantage of the Fuglsang breakdown.

The Spanish Pello Bilbao (Bahrain McLaren), third overall in the Giro d'Italia, tried to surprise in the last kilometers of the tenth stage, but the reaction of the rivals prevented him from attacking the pink jersey.

"In the last kilometers I saw the opportunity to attack and I tried. They kept informing me on the radio and I knew that some direct rivals were in difficulties. I had to try and that's what I did," explained the Bahrain McLaren rider.

The Biscayan cyclist managed to open a gap and obtain an advantage close to half a minute over the group of the leader, the Portuguese Joao Almeida, but finally his illusions fell apart. "There was a backlash and I couldn't reach the finish line ahead of the men in the general classification. The team worked very well for me and at least we tried. I'll try to do it again, there's a lot of Giro left" .
