Barça renew Piqué, Ter Stegen, Lenglet and De Jong

The center-back extends his contract until 2024, the goalkeeper until 2025 and the French and Dutch until 2026. They all adapt their salary to the entity's demands.


Once the game against Ferencvaros was over, Barcelona announced the renewal of the contract of four players through an official note. Gerard Piqué, Ter Stegen, De Jong and Lenglet have reached an agreement with the entity to extend their respective contracts adapting their salaries to the demands of the club, which requested a reduction or a postponement of payment over time due to economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gerard Piqué, who had a contract until June 30, 2022, extends his commitment for two years as long as he plays 75 percent of the games this season. Its clause remains at 500 million euros.

Marc Andre Ter Stegen extends his contract for three years, until 2025 and his termination clause rises from 180 million to 500. Who maintains the clause is Frenkie de Jong, which remains at 400 million, but extends his contract for two years until 2026 like Clément Lenglet. The Frenchman had a contract until 2023 and his clause was 300 million and now it is 400.

This was announced by the club in an official statement:

"FC Barcelona and the first team players Gerard Piqué, Marc ter Stegen, Clément Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong have reached an agreement to extend their respective contracts. These agreements have been concluded after weeks of negotiation and include an adaptation temporary salary, given the current circumstances derived from the crisis caused by Covid-19.

Gerard Piqué: 2024Gerard Piqué extends contract until June 30, 2024 and the termination clause is set at 500 million euros. This extension will be subject to the player playing a certain number of matches starting in the 2021/22 season. It must be remembered that the '3' is living his 13th season in the first team, having played a total of 548 games.

Marc Ter Stegen: 2025Marc Ter Stegen extends the contract until June 30, 2025 and the termination clause is set at 500 million euros. In this way, the German goalkeeper, currently injured, will complete more than a decade dressed as a Barça player.

Clément Lenglet: 2026Clément Lenglet extends contract until June 30, 2026 and the termination clause is set at 300 million euros. The 25-year-old French central defender currently has 89 official matches with the Barça shirt.

Frenkie De Jong: 2026Frenkie de Jong extends contract until June 30, 2026 and the termination clause is set at 400 million euros. It should be remembered that the 23-year-old Dutch midfielder has played 47 games for Barça and this year, under Ronald Koeman, has started all five. Against Ferencváros he gave a fantasy assist for Ansu Fati to make it 2-0 ".
