Trio of leaders in Ireland with Elvira at four strokes

The South African Burmester and the English Rai and Smith tied at -5 on the first day. The Cantabrian is 18th with -1 and the best Spanish after the first round.


South African Dean Burmester and England's Jordan Smith and Aaron Rai, each with a score of 65 strokes (five under par), share first place in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on the Eurpean Tour, which takes place at the Galgorna Spa & Golf Resort from Ballymena (Northern Ireland), at the end of the first day.

A hit by the head trio is also English Toby Tree. The best Spaniard on the first day is Nacho Elvira, the eighteenth, with 69 hits (-1). Other Spaniards in contention are Alejandro Cañizares (71), Adri Arnaus (73) and Sebastián García (78). The Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti handed over a card with 70.
