Teruel and Helena Casas rule in the Nationals of track

Teruel took the team chase and the score. Casas took the gold medal for the third time in women's keirin. Team speed for Gurpea.

Eloy Teruel and Helena Casas have been the main protagonists of the Spanish Track Cycling Championships by adding three gold medals at the Miguel Induráin Velodrome in Tafalla (Navarra). The third day of the Nationals on the track marked the end of the competition for cyclists in the Open category and the opening of the tests for cadets, reports the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC).

Teruel, Alberto Pérez, Víctor Manuel Romero and José María García took victory in the Open Team Pursuit after completing the 4 km in 4: 27.506. The second place has been for Madrid, with 4: 32.486, and the third for Euskadi, who have registered a time of 4: 35.845.

The great moment of the day for the Murcian long distance runner came with the dispute in the Score, in which he dominated the second half of the race. With 61 points, and having scored in 11 of the 16 sprints, Eloy Teruel dressed as champion of Spain, while the other two places on the podium went to Illart Zuazubiskar, with 46 points, and for Joan Martín Bennassar, with 40, which He also won the title Sub-23.

The resolution of the Keirin was another of the great moments of the last day of competition for the Open riders. Pepe Moreno, who had stopped focusing his efforts on speed in recent months to test in some of the long-distance tests, surprised Juan Peralta with a distant start and took the gold ahead of the Navarrese and Alejandro Martínez, bronze and champion of Spain U23.

In the women's Keirin, Helena Casas conquered her third gold of this edition of the national track after beating a great Marga López, who culminated a very outstanding participation shining in all the tests she played, regardless of distance or speed, and Diana Perez.

In the Women's Score there was an exciting race in which Isabel Martín won the victory by surprising the big favorites. The close marking that Ziortza Isasi maintained with the two Gipuzkoa-Ogi Berri riders, Tania Calvo and Eukene Larrarte, opened opportunities for other cyclists that Martín did not miss.

The Castilian-Leon, in the middle of the race, took advantage of a break to launch an attack to which she responded and that resulted in 20 points. In the sprints, Tania Calvo dominated but it was not enough to reach the 31 points of Isabel Martín, who prevailed with a 5-point advantage over the Alava, who rounded off a great Spanish Championship on her way to the bottom with a gold and two medals silver. The third place went to Eukene Larrarte, who left with a gold, a silver and a bronze.

In tomorrow's session, in addition to the Team Pursuit, another Open title was decided: team speed. The newly created Gurpea Track Team, made up of Aliaga, Cabello and Peralta, had already started before the start of this Spanish Championship as a great favorite for gold in this test and the action on the velodrome has only confirmed those same forecasts. They were the best in qualifying and today in the final they beat Catalonia after stopping the clock in a time of 47 "060 by 48" 218 of their opponents.
