The spectacular Sochi circuit will be the scene of a race that Carlos Sainz faces with optimism, as revealed in the statements provided by the McLaren team.

"I am looking forward to this Russian GP. Last year I finished there in sixth position and scoring some good points. "We want to be ahead, take advantage of our opportunities and achieve a good result", he adds as it could not be otherwise. In spite of everything, Sainz does not forget the irregularity that he has been suffering throughout the championship with his team: "The third racing triplet of the season brought us high and low moments. The great result of Monza was an incentive for the whole team , but what happened in Mugello cannot be repeated ".

The Spaniard refers to the incident with the safety car in the middle of the finish line: "I have already said that the important thing is that we all came out unharmed, but in Russia we must analyze what happened to understand what happened and find a way to avoid it in the future ".

Finally, Sainz acknowledges that the short break in the championship has been welcome: "Nine races in eleven weekends has been tough for the whole team, so having some time to reset has been good for us. We have been able to recharge the batteries. and carefully analyze the last races ".
