Positive in COVID-19 from Martín that leaves him out of Misano

Hard blow for the aspirations of title in Moto2 for the Madrid, who is third. His case becomes official this Thursday morning.

Jorge Martín will be injured this weekend in Misano by testing positive for COVID-19 in the test prior to the San Marino GP. This is a serious blow to the Madrid's title aspirations in Moto2, a category in which he is third with 79 points, tied with Enea Bastianini and eight points off the head of Luca Marini.

As happened in F1 with Checo Pérez, the Red Bull KTM Ajo driver will have to stay at home and will not be able to return to the MotoGP bubble until he tests negative. As AS has learned, the positive is from several days ago and it may be that the Moto3 champion of two years ago could be in the second round of Misano, that of September 20.

Your case may not be the only one made official in the next few hours, although none of the other possible title fights in any of the three categories.

The World Cup has been stopped for two weeks after the triplet in Brno and the two appointments in Austria, and now it is back without one of the great animators in the intermediate category. Martín won the first of the two appointments at the Red Bull Ring and crossed first in the second, although there a penalty for stepping on the green relegated him to second place, with Bezzecchi inheriting the victory. See if he can come back for Misano 2 and still fight for the title before moving up to MotoGP next year with the Pramac Ducati.
