Pogacar: "I was happy finishing 2nd, this sport is amazing"

The Slovenian was enthusiastic after confirming his maiden Tour de France victory. Next Monday he will be 22 years old.


Tadej Pogacar completed the procedure for the 21st stage of the Tour de France and was crowned in Paris as the new champion. The 21-year-old Slovenian succeeds Egan Bernal after signing an impeccable three weeks, not only being the most encouraging but also the strongest runner in the race when the road got up.

"Winning the Tour is incredible, it's really crazy. To finish second would have been fantastic for me. I cannot describe this feeling in words. Today is a very special day that I have been able to share with my teammates," the Slovenian explained to the organization microphones at the end of the stage.

Finally, he said goodbye with an emotional message about the greatness of cycling: "I have a lot of respect for all the riders, all of them have congratulated me today and this sport is really amazing. It is a great gift because tomorrow is my birthday."
