Official: Carrasco stays at Atlético for four more years

The Belgian has signed a contract with the rojiblancos for the next four seasons, so he will remain under Simeone's orders until 2024.

Atlético has made official the continuity of Yannick Carrasco for the next four seasons after reaching an agreement with his home club, Dalian Yifang of China, although the amount of the operation has not been revealed. The Belgian, thus, fulfills his desire to continue in the rojiblanco club, after arriving on loan on the last day of the winter market as a reinforcement for the mattress attack. In these six months he has played a total of 16 games in which he has scored a goal and has given four assists, being an important piece for Simeone. Atlético had been negotiating its continuity for some time and has finally achieved its goal.

Carrasco, 27, already had a first stint at the club, arriving from Monaco in the summer of 2015 and playing 126 games in which he scored 23 goals and provided 17 assists before heading to China in February 2018 However, given the impossibility of bringing in a center forward in the last winter market, Simeone decided to bet on an old acquaintance and thought of Carrasco to give more resources to his attack.

Although at first it was difficult for him to enter the dynamics of the team, as he himself recognized in recent statements, little by little he took shape and became an outstanding player for Cholo, as evidenced by the fact that he started at the Camp Nou in LaLiga and in the most important game of the season, the Champions League quarter-final match against Leipzig in Lisbon. Now he has four more years to continue showing that he can be a differential footballer at Atlético.
