Mercedes will continue in F1

Daimler, the group that owns the brand, reaffirms its commitment: "We will continue with the team and it will also be Mercedes."

The Daimler car group, parent of the Mercedes brand, has denied persistent speculation about its possible withdrawal from Formula 1 and has reaffirmed its intention to continue competing in the premier class of motorsport with the Mercedes team. "We will continue with the team and that will also be a Mercedes team. We have no intention of leaving," a Daimler spokesman told 'DPA' in the run-up to the Russian GP, which will be held next this weekend.

In this way, the German manufacturer comes to the step of the information that spoke of a possible sale of the Mercedes team. The chemical company Ineos, which is already a sponsor of the world champion's team, was named as a potential buyer. Toto Wolff, Mercedes team boss, has recently denied this possibility.

The Austrian's contract will expire at the end of the season, as will that of great star Lewis Hamilton. However, the Daimler spokesman stressed the willingness to continue cooperation. "We will also continue with the same people: Lewis, Valtteri (Bottas) and Toto," he settled.
