In half an hour the team of the Dutch Peter Bosz, runner-up in the last Cup, had already sealed the pass against the Hamburg team, which plays in the regional category.

The four Bundesliga teams that went into action this Sunday saved the first round of the German Cup after resolving their respective commitments. Freiburg, Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart sealed their passage to the next phase in a different way, with difficulties for Hoffenheim and Freiburg, with solvency for Stuttgart and with authority for Leverkusen, runners-up in the last edition. Freiburg did not resolve their situation until ten minutes before the end of the clash with Mannheim (1-2) and a goal from Frenchman Jonathan Smith.

Stuttgart, recently promoted to the Bundesliga this season, beat regional-class Hansa Rostock with a goal from Congolese Silas Wamangituka. The one that had the hardest time was Hoffenheim, which was about to say goodbye. The success in the penalty shoot-out prevented their elimination against Chemnitzer, also a regional team, after the match ended with a draw at two. Bayer Leverkusen, however, feasted on the pitch at Eintracht Norderstedt (0-7) to extend their path in the competition.
