Khachanov, Rublev and Kuznetsov pass by on a good Russian day

Khachanov suffered to beat the Italian pearl Sinner; Rublev had a placid debut against Chardy and Kuznetsov, who had not played for almost three years, managed to beat Querrey.

Russian tennis successfully started the second day at the US Open in New York. Each in a different way and with a different story, Karen Khachanov, Andrey Rublev and Andrey Kuznetsov managed to advance to the second round.

Khachanov (11th) favorite had a very bad time to beat the young Italian pearl Jannik Sinner, who placed 68 winners and overcame with a comeback finally in five sets (3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2, 6-0 and 7-6 (4)). He will face his compatriot Kuznetsov, who had not played with hip problems for almost three years, arrived unranked at the tournament (but with number 130 protected by his injury) and beat American Sam Querrey (6- 4, 7-6 (6) and 6-2). It was even easier for Rublev (10th), who struck down the French Jeremy Chardy (6-4, 6-4 and 6-3) and he will face Duckworth or Daniel.

Another seed, the Norwegian Casper Ruud, won 4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2 to the American Mackenzie McDonald, who let himself go back when he had the game quite controlled, Rudd will play against the unknown Finn Emil Ruusuvuori, who threw the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 4-6 and 6-1). Marin Cilic, still very out of shape, passed Cain's to overtake American Denis Kudla, who put him in serious trouble. But he won 6-7 (3), 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 and 6-3 in one day with several comebacks. It will be seen with the Slovak Gombos.
