Forlán, fired from Peñarol

The 'Carboneros' terminate their contractual relationship with Forlán, after directing only eleven meetings between Libertadores and Apertura.

Diego Forlán's stage as coach of Peñarol has come to an end. The 'Carbonero' team, according to various media in the country, has made the decision to dismiss the coach hours after the defeat against Wanderers.

Forlán, who arrived in Peñarol this year, has only led the team eleven games - nine from the Apertura Tournament and two from the Copa Libertadores - with a balance in the domestic championship of three wins, three draws and three defeats. A total of 12 points in nine games played in the First Division of Uruguay, with the seventh team in the standings seven points behind Wanderers, leader of the championship, and who beat Peñarol by 0-2.

The balance of two victories in five games played, and the image offered in recent games, could have been the main reasons for his dismissal. The cessation occurs two weeks after the return of the continental competition, in which Peñarol will face Colo-Colo from Chile first, and Wilstermann from Bolivia, later.
