The UEFA Refereeing Committee announced on Tuesday that Englishman Anthony Taylor will referee the European Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Sevilla, which will take place at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on Thursday 24 September.

At 41, Taylor, born in Manchester, has been a referee in the English Premier League since 2010 and is already a regular in the Champions League, Europa League and national team competitions. His last performance in a UEFA match was in PSG's victory against Atalanta (2-1) in the quarter-finals of the recent Champions League.

It will not be the first European Super Cup for Taylor, as he was appointed additional assistant referee in the 2014 edition, when Real Madrid beat a Sevilla 2-0 that returns to participate in this 2020.

The assistant referees will be Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, while Israeli Orel Grinfeeld will act as fourth official. In addition, the two heads of VAR, Stuart Attwell and Paul Tierney, will also be English.
