CCC removes Wisniowski and Sajnok from Tirreno over suspected coronavirus case

The Polish team has made this decision after Wisniowski showed a fever and tested positive in a rapid test pending the results of the PCR test.


The CCC team has withdrawn its cyclists Lukasz Wisniowski and Szymon Sajnok from the Tirreno-Adriatico due to the suspicion of a possible case of coronavirus within the team, so they have activated the protocols to avoid possible infections.

Through a statement the team has revealed that Wisniowski left the seventh stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico this Sunday after showing symptoms of fever during the route. The cyclist underwent a rapid coronavirus test in which he tested positive, but the team decided to put him through a PCR test to confirm the results.In view of the possible contagion of Wisniowski, the CCC has decided to withdraw from the race his roommate Szymon Sajnok, who has also undergone a PCR and is awaiting results, to avoid possible infections. From the team they also point out that the rest of the runners have undergone rapid tests this Sunday and today, all testing negative for coronavirus, so they will start the final time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto.
