Basketball also starts

Basketball-also-starts

Two and a half months after the resolution of the league title, the ACB competition is back on the pitch, but this time without a bubble. The formula served to solve the championship in Valencia, as an exceptional remedy to unlock the paralysis caused by the pandemic, just as it is worth to the NBA to advance in its Disney playoffs, for the same reasons. But the scene has changed. The Endesa League intends to start within a week, on its dates, with a traditional calendar, round-trip matches, trips to Spain. That is why this Super Cup that takes place over the weekend in Tenerife has not been wrapped in a bubble, because what it seeks is to emulate, as far as possible, the same basketball assumptions that will surely be repeated during the season.

The Super Cup opens the course with the same questions posed to society. Will the progression of the pandemic allow a normal development of the competition? In professional basketball, as in the rest of the sport, even in any social activity, it is fully assumed that there will be positives, which will force postponements and fit dates in the tight basketball calendars. It's going to be like this practically every week. We have already seen it these last days in football: a Madrid-Rayo friendly has been canceled, Atlético's concentration has been suspended ... There will be, there will be. That is the new normal. The key is to be prepared for it and in that the situation does not overflow. That is the great challenge for Spanish sport in this new season that is beginning to roll. The first portion is a Baskonia-Barça, which reissues the League final, and a Tenerife-Madrid, with the illusion of a host without an audience. Tomorrow the possibility of the first Clásico appears. But the important thing is that the ball starts to fly… and stops as little as possible.
