Team Lotto Soudal announced on Thursday that two members of the technical team transferred to Nice for the start of the Tour de France were tested positive for COVID-19, making them the first cases in the test.

Two days before the start of the race, the two technical assistants were sent to their homes, as well as two others who shared a room with them, said the Lotto.

The Belgian team comes to the Tour with their hopes pinned on stage victories by the Australian Caleb Ewan, renowned sprinter, the Belgians Phlippe Gilbert and Thomas de Gendt, and the German John Degenkolb.
