The Giro de Lombardia cuts 15 kilometers from its route

RCS Sport, organizer of the race, announced that the final distance would be 231 kilometers. The section that runs through Lecco is abolished.

Last minute changes in the Tour of Lombardy (August 15). The route of the second Monument of the season, also through Italian lands after Milan-San Remo, will see its distance reduced by 15 kilometers, as announced last Tuesday by RCS Sport, the organizing company of the event. Thus, the final route will consist of 231 kilometers, for the initial 246.

The route modification will prevent runners from passing through Lecco, instead completing the iconic ascent to Madonna del Ghisallo from Lake Como, an explosive climb with slopes reaching 14%. The race will probably be decided on the last climb, San Fermo della Battaglia, the last hurdle before facing a descent that leads to the arrival in the town of Como.
