The Andalucía Masters will be played behind closed doors

The Estrella Damm Andalucía Golf Masters, scheduled for the beginning of September at the Real Golf Club Valderrama (Cádiz), will be played without an audience due to COVID-19.

The Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters golf tournament, scheduled for the beginning of September at the Real Golf Club Valderrama field, in Sotogrande (Cádiz), will be played without an audience due to the health crisis of COVID-19.

The organization announced this Monday in a statement that the decision has been adopted taking into account the "comprehensive health strategy" of the European Circuit and after raising a query with the Spanish authorities.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 6 in the famous Sanroqueño field, which hosted the Ryder Cup in the late 1990s.

The starting date was between April 30 and May 3 within the calendar of the European Circuit, which this year has undergone a redesign to adapt to the circumstances arising from the pandemic.

Fans who have purchased tickets for the tournament will receive a refund of the cost, specified its organizers.

The championship director appointed by the European Circuit for the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters, Peter Adams, thanked "greatly" the interest of the fans in attending the tournament and regretted that it was not finally possible.

The tournaments of the remodeled 2020 season are governed by the health parameters developed by the Chief Medical Officer of the European Circuit, Andrew Murray, in collaboration with advisers from the thirty countries that host events for this event and Cignpost, a company specialized in health care .

The European Tour resumed its journey in July with two tournaments played in Austria, followed by a six-week tour of the UK.

Since the restart of 'Race to Dubai 2020' all tournaments have been played behind closed doors.
