Sainz: "I hope that Barcelona is a turning point"

"Spa is one of my favorite tracks. Knowing how the car is performing, I hope we can have a good weekend," said the Spanish driver.

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (McLaren Renault) is confident that after the sixth place he achieved in the last Spanish Grand Prix, he can continue reaping good results next weekend in the Belgian Grand Prix.

"Spa is one of my favorite tracks. Knowing how the car is performing this season, I hope we can have a good weekend," Sainz said in a statement released by the McLaren team.

Sainz, who is in ninth place in the Drivers' World Championship, hopes that his sixth place in Montmeló will be a "turning point" in the season. "In general, we have had a good performance during the first period of racing and I hope that Barcelona has been a turning point in my season," said Sainz.

Sainz is confident that after the Belgian Grand Prix the McLaren team, which occupies the fourth place in the Constructors' World Cup, will remain firm in the fight. "We have to get all the positive energy achieved in Spain because the constructors' championship is very tight and leaving points behind is not an option if we want to continue in the fight," added the Spanish rider.

Finally, Carlos Sainz had a few words of memory for the French F2 driver Anthoine Hubert, who died last year at the Spa circuit. "Returning to Spa this year, we will take some time to remember Anthoine, who sadly passed away there last year. He was a young talent who was taken from us too soon, and we will always remember him wherever we run, but even more so in Spa." Sainz concluded.
