Prado reaches his first MXGP podium in Latvia

The Lugo finished third in the first round of the Kegums GP and in the second he was fourth: "It has been a very hard year, little time on the bike and I feel very happy."

Jorge Prado achieved his first podium in Latvia in the MXGP queen class of the Motocross World Championship. The man from Lugo finished the first round in third position behind Tim Gajser and Armina Jaisikonis, his KTM being the best mount in the Austrian house after the Slovenian's Honda and the Lithuanian's Husqvarna. The Spaniard, after his problems from the previous appointment on the same stage, rolled in the best times and was close to setting the fastest lap, only 0.4 of Gajser's best time. "It has been a very hard year, little time on the bike and I am very happy to reach this podium," said the current MXGP2 champion after his first podium.

In the second race Prado finished fourth in a heat in which Jeffrey Herlings prevailed, followed by Tony Cairoli and Jaisikonis: "I was already very tired in the second race, and we managed to take a very important step. It's great to be on the podium and I am very grateful to my entire team and to those who are always behind me. " Despite his fatigue, he was back in the rhythm of the best in the category and the 18 points achieved, added to the 20 in the first heat, made him leave Latvia with third place overall in the GP. In the general of the Prado World Cup I ascended to ninth place with 120 points. Domina Herlings with 213. The next stop of the championship will be in Turkey on September 6.

For his part, the other Spanish representative present at Kegums, Rubén Fernández, had a good performance in the MX2 category after finishing in eighth place despite suffering several falls that prevented him from improving his result.
