Pepe Reina will be from Valencia if Cillessen leaves

The club that has an agreement with the Madrid goalkeeper, but cannot move to sign until there are more exits. The transfer of the Dutch, complex.

Valencia has already chosen the replacement of Jasper Cillessen in case the Dutch goalkeeper leaves Mestalla. The club has a closed agreement with Pepe Reina to land in the Turia capital. To achieve the arrival of the Spanish goal, Valencia need to get rid of Cillessen, one of the players who earns the most on the squad.

The club estimates that the Dutchman costs him about 11 million euros a year, between salary and amortization. Valencia considers that it would save a good pinch if it is able to transfer Cillessen, since the entity is still immersed in its fight to reduce the cost of the squad after not qualifying for the Champions League.

Cillessen's departure seems complicated, due to his high record and because right now he has not had any firm suitor. Only Ajax has been timidly interested. Meanwhile, Reina is the man chosen to land in Mestalla. The Madrilenian, with great experience, finished the course on loan at Aston Villa. Reina has one more year of contract with Milan, but leaving the Italian club would not be a problem.

It was no secret, the black and white managers took care of it, that the transfer market was going to be more than complicated for Valencia Football Club. Without Champions and attacked by the COVID-19 crisis, the need to sell is capital. Such is the situation that today the Mestalla entity has paralyzed operations with several footballers to whom a high interest in having them had already been transmitted. Economically there can be no incorporations without the players coming out first, but the dates advance, the return of LaLiga is closer and closer and the club still cannot sign.

Footballers like Femenia, Deulofeu or Yangel Herrera, who at the time bet on Valencia, are still waiting. The dates pass and this means that other teams have already shown availability in having them, something that the Turia club cannot do today. A clear example is the case of 'Yangel' to whom Granada has already communicated that if he wishes, he can return on loan at Los Cármenes.

The amount that Valencia can invest in signings today is very low, to the point that it is only 3.4 million euros per year between salary and amortization, as reported by Ser. Such an amount leaves the club with a margin of very reduced maneuver until there are sales, nevertheless Miguel Ángel Corona continues working in search of footballers who adhere to such criteria. And Pepe Reina fits the bill.
